NOW We Thrive: 21 Days of Prayer and Fasting
For God is the one who provides seed for the farmer and then bread to eat. In the same way, he will provide and increase your resources and then produce a great harvest of generosity in you. —2 Corinthians 9:10 (NLT)
As we embark on this new year, Mosaic Church invites you to join us in 21 Days of Prayer and Fasting under the theme, "NOW We Thrive"—a call to spiritual renewal and abundant harvest. Grounded in 2 Corinthians 9:10 (NLT), which assures us that "God is the one who provides seed for the farmer and then bread to eat," this season is an opportunity to prepare our hearts and lives for the harvest God has planned.
This journey is about more than personal discipline; it's about aligning ourselves with God's purposes.
Join us January 5 - 25, 2025 for 21 Days of Prayer & Fasting!
Just as Jesus said in John 4:34-38 (NLT): "Wake up and look around. The fields are already ripe for harvest."
Why Do We Fast?
Fasting is a spiritual discipline that helps us draw closer to God by removing distractions and relying on Him as our source of strength. In Scripture, fasting is often paired with prayer, creating a powerful combination that shifts our focus from physical needs to spiritual growth.
Biblical Purpose of Fasting:
- To humble ourselves before God (Ezra 8:21)
- To seek His guidance and will (Acts 13:2-3)
- To break free from bondage and experience renewal (Isaiah 58:6)
Fasting is a spiritual practice that deepens our dependence on God. By setting aside physical comforts, we make room for God to fill us spiritually. Here’s what fasting accomplishes, as revealed in Scripture:
Draws us closer to God: “Come close to God, and God will come close to you.” (James 4:8)
Focuses our prayers: “But when you fast, comb your hair and wash your face. Then no one will notice that you are fasting...” (Matthew 6:17-18)
Prepares us for spiritual growth: “For the kind of fasting I want calls you to free those who are wrongly imprisoned...” (Isaiah 58:6-7)
Before beginning any fast, consult with your doctor to ensure it is safe for your health. Remember, fasting is flexible—listen to your body and adjust as needed
